Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin 1.3.0 Title Update finally adds more Deviants from Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate, Soulseer Mizutsune and Elderfrost Gammoth. They will be a good addition to your endgame party since these Deviant monsters have strengths that rival even the Elder Dragons. Right now, let’s take a look at how you can obtain yourself an Elderfrost Gammoth as a Monstie in Monster Hunter Stories 2.

Monster Hunter Stories 2 – How To Get Elderfrost Gammoth

To get an Elderfrost Gammoth egg, you need to take on the newly added “Co-Op Quest ★8:(Explore) Ice Eggs” from the Quest Board. As you can expect, this is a quest where you go in with another Rider. A randomized AI Rider will instead tag along if you start the quest alone. Although depending on which AI Rider partner you got, it’s much better to look for a reliable and real co-op partner instead.

Aside from a chance of getting an Elderfrost Gammoth egg, all eggs in this quest contain Ice element Monsties. This makes it perfect for farming Ice monsters like normal Gammoth or Velkhana, and you might also want to use a higher tier of Expedition Tickets to get better eggs during the quest. Don’t forget to apply the Finding Charm for an increased chance of getting rare Genes.

The “★8:(Explore) Ice Eggs Co-Op Quest” will only be finished after you and your partner defeat Elderfrost Gammoth in the last nest. Elderfrost Gammoth itself is a Power-type monster that is weak against Fire element attacks, and these are the best weapon types you can use to break each body part of the humongous Fanged Beast:

  • Head: Slash
  • Nose: Slash
  • Body: Slash
  • Legs: Blunt
  • Tail: Slash

For more details about its weakness, you can head over to our Monsters Weaknesses list guide. Once you beat it, you will get the materials to let you craft the Elderfrost Armor+, containing Health Boost (L), Self-Heal (XL), and Guard Chance (L). If you need more materials, on September 16, the “★9: (Slay) Elderfrost Gammoth” Quest and “★8: Unconquerable Mountain” Subquest will be added as well. Meanwhile, as a Monstie, Elderfrost Gammoth will have unique skills called:

  • Silver Cannon – Toss Gene (XL), Level 1: Power type. Deals heavy Ice damage to all enemies.
  • Silver Blast – Ice Breath Gene (L), Level 25: Power type. Deals medium Ice damage to all enemies. Low chance to inflict Skillseal.

And that’s it, good luck on your hunts and ransacking monsters’ nests! Don’t forget to check our other guides on Minecraft, Genshin Impact, and others. Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin is now available on Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam.
