Monster Hunter: World hasn’t even been out for a full month yet, but Capcom has announced the recently-launched action title has surpassed yet another milestone.
This time around, the game has surpassed the six million units worldwide including both shipments to retailers and digital sales on both the PlayStation Store and on Xbox Live.
Notably, this news comes on the heels of the revelation that it broke five million units shipped worldwide in only three days and not only has sold 1.5 million units in Japan alone within the span of two weeks, but is also the mainline Monster Hunter entry with the highest debut attach rate in the country — despite it not being on a handheld platform.
When taken together, this means that not only has Monster Hunter: World become the fastest entry in the franchise to reach to reach the six million milestone, but is actually the fastest Capcom title to do so in history.
And from the looks of things, it appears that this momentum won’t be stopping anytime soon, as Capcom has a few plans in the works to help bolster its exposure worldwide. One of these is a tournament starting in Spring 2018 where players in Japan will compete to determine who is the best hunter in the region; while the other is a “Hollywood film adaptation of the series.”
As you can see, Monster Hunter: World has taken the world by storm and is definitely worth your time if you haven’t picked it up yet. Monster Hunter: World is available now worldwide for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, and will launch for PC this fall.
