Players in Monster Hunter: World are going to have plenty to do this week with the latest Iceborne expansion. This expansion adds a brand new ice-filled land for players to explore, full of frigid and angry monsters to hunt. However, those who are wondering about the new weapons and armor are probably running into a brand new term called Master Rank. It’s a new tier above what players have been using, and it adds new content to the game. Here’s everything you need to know about Master Rank in the game.

What is Master Rank in Monster Hunter: World’s Iceborne?

The new rank is going to unlock a plethora of new content for players. Those interested in exploring through the game are going to want to become familiar with the term and learn how to unlock. Mostly, it’s a new ranking system players are going to use to scale their progress through Iceborne. Not only is it going to unlock new assignments, but it’s going to provide players with new weapons, armor, decorations, and new Master Rank monsters to hunt.

Unfortunately, the Master rank is not going to open up to every Monster Hunter: World player. It’s going to remain exclusive for those who purchase the Iceborne exclusive. For those interested in getting further in the game than they already are, you’ll need to buy the expansion and begin to progress through. Naturally going through the expansion’s story is how you’re going to unlock it and gain access to this higher tier content.

How To Unlock Master Rank in Monster Hunter World’s Iceborne

At a minimum, you’re going to need to have completed the Land of Convergence assignment. Achieving this is going to start the Iceborne content, and after that, you’re going to need to double-check to see if you’ve reached Hunter Rank 16. Those are the minimum requirements players need to meet.

Following those, you’re going to need to progress to the Enthusiastic Fiver in Astera. You and your handler are going to go on an expedition together, where you’re going to find Master Rank unlocks once you arrive at Hoarfrost Reach, the brand new area in Iceborne.

However, a player’s Master Rank is going to level in small doses. It’s set to level up as they progress through the story of the new area, ensuring players getting accustomed to the new area, expanded mechanics, and everything there is to do in the ice-based environment.

You’re going to find you can do a great many new things with the ranking system. Go out there and find out what else you can do in the latest Iceborne expansion!
