Moonlighter, an acclaimed action RPG by Digital Sun Games, is coming to iOS on November 19. This rogue-lite indie game is now being redesigned for optimal gaming on phones and tablets.

Moonlighter iOS Features

The iOS version of Moonlighter will feature a new control scheme, and a user interface modified to suit mobile gaming. It will be using the tap and swipe mechanic as opposed to virtual twin-stick controls. Other aspects, such as enemy behaviors, statistics, and boss encounters, were also “tweaked” to suit mobile players.

After its initial 2018 release via 11bit studios, Moonlighter became a huge indie hit. It received critical praise from various media outlets and won multiple game development awards. Due to its success, all its dungeon-crawling goodness is now being brought to players’ pockets in the form of a mobile RPG.

Gameplay and Mechanics

The game follows the novice treasure hunter and shopkeeper, Will. In the world of Moonlighter, an archaeological excavation revealed a set of special Gates that lead to various realms and dimensions. These worlds provided exciting adventures, but they also offered more treasures than any merchant can ever imagine. A small village, Rynoka, was founded near the Gates in order to provide a place for adventurers to sell their treasures.

Moonlighter features fast-paced action, deep fighting mechanics, beautiful pixel art graphics, and a crafting/enchanting system. During combat, you won’t get away by just button-mashing – you will need to be impeccable with your timing, careful with your positioning, and have a good understanding of enemy behaviors.

Also, Moonlighter features shopkeeping elements where you can put your business acumen to the test. While in Rynoka, you can set the prices for the items you’re selling, hire assistants, and upgrade your store. You might even need to deal with customers choosing to use a five-finger discount!
