The big megaton that Microsoft dropped at E3 two months ago was the addition of backwards compatibility later in the year, which is already available in a limited way through the Xbox One Preview Program. We got a list of games shown that it looked like would be coming and now we have even more.
During Microsoft’s Gamescom conference yesterday, we got the announcement of multiple publishers that are giving support towards backwards compatibility on Xbox One. Those included the likes of companies like EA, Ubisoft, Bandai Namco, 2K, and multiple others.
During that same presentation, another large image of games advertising the Xbox One’s ability to play backwards compatible games popped up and thanks to a user on NeoGAF, we have a list of most games that are visible.
According to the the user Basketball on there, the following were shown in the image during the Xbox One presentation.
Assassins Creed Revelations Ghost Recon Advanced Warfare 2 Risen A Kingdom for Kefflings A World of Keflings Alien Hominid HD Risen 2 Tom Clancy ENDWAR Battleblock Theater Bioshock Borderlands Call of Juarez Gunslinger Assassins Creed Brotherhood Civilization Revolution Dead Space Disney Universe Dynasty Warriors 8 Bioshock Infinite Fallout 3 Forza 3 Trials HD Gears of War Halo 3: ODST Need for Speed: Most Wanted (Guess) Splinter Cell Double Agent Kameo: Elements of Power Banjo Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts Assassins Creed Mass Effect Forza 4 Clash of Heroes HD Sacred 2 Viva Pinata: Trouble in Paradise Rayman Origins Pac-Man CEDX Forza Horizon Halo Anniversary Rainbow Six Vegas Rayman Legends Sacred 3 Shadow Complex Shoot Many Robots Sonic Adventure 2 Splinter Cell Blacklist Super Meat Boy Ghost Recon Advanced Warfare Toy Story 3
There were also two other mystery ones that could not be made out on the bottom right, along with even more that aren’t visible. With those two included, that puts the total at 49, including games that are already announced. Some of these could always end up not making it on the list, but it would be assumed that their presence here confirms they are coming at some point, hopefully by launch.
With a bunch of publishers already announced and a list this strong, we are really going to be in for a treat when backwards compatibility launches later this year for Xbox One.
