Sony will shutter servers for SOCOM and MAG in early 2014. Last week the company announced that they would discontinue the online portions of these games, and the remaining players on these titles are obviously upset about the news. In the case of MAG, players have put together a petition for Sony to add bot support to the game to keep it functional. Without online servers MAG is a pretty useless game....

Sony will no longer be supporting the Maps and YouTube apps for the PS Vita system. Sony revealed this information on the PlayStation Support website. They didn’t give a reason why these apps are being discontinued, but they gave more information on the dates they will no longer be usable on PS Vita. Here’s what Sony said about the Maps app on PS Vita: “All features of the [Maps] application and some features of the [near] application will be disabled with the PlayStation Vita system software update planned on March, 2015....

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe’s file size will clock in at 6.75GB, which is an increase of almost 2GB over the initial 4.9GB file size from Wii U. With all of the added tracks, karts, characters, and modes, this certainly makes sense, and the game even seems a bit small when you look at all it has to offer. Still, with the Nintendo Switch only coming with 32GB of on-system storage, every gigabyte is important and worth paying attention to....

An action-packed hour with the Guardians. I’ll admit, I was initially wary about Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy. Marvel games have been pretty hit or miss recently, resulting in amazing highs like Insomniac’s Spider-Man and middling lows like Marvel’s Avengers. When it was first shown off at this year’s E3, Eidos Montreal’s Guardians of the Galaxy looked a lot closer to the latter than the former. Boy, was I wrong. The Oculus Rift is coming. Dev Kit units are apparently in the hands of those looking to make and modify software for use with the virtual reality hardware. YouTube user Cymatic Bruce has a series of Oculus Rift videos where he tests out the functionality of the headset, and this latest breathes new life into the five-year old title, Mirror’s Edge. The video gives a look at the two screens on the Oculus, but it likely does not do justice to the sensation of actually wearing the headset....

Media Molecule director Siobhan Reddy has revealed that the studio doesn’t have plans to bring back the LittleBigPlanet franchise anytime soon. The developer has just released PlayStation 4 exclusive Dreams, a powerful tool that allows players to create, share and play games on the go. A PC port has been rumored to be in development. Lone Survivor, Jasper Byrne’s critically acclaimed 2D survival horror game is coming to the PlayStation 3 and PS Vita.
